Privacy & cookies
What we process
When you use CopyTheVideo, our servers receive your IP address and technical request information needed to deliver the service. When you find a video, we process its URL and retrieve public video information from Facebook, including the title, available qualities and media addresses. Do not submit passwords, account cookies or private links.
Video previews and downloads pass through our server. We stream the video rather than keep a permanent video library. On supported phones, your browser temporarily holds the selected video in memory to open the device’s share menu. Files you save remain on your device until you delete them.
Temporary data and security
We cache video lookup information in server memory for reuse for two minutes. Expired entries may remain in memory until replaced, the bounded cache is cleared or the service restarts. There is no persistent download-history database.
We use short-lived IP-based counters to limit automated abuse and concurrent requests. Rate-limit counters expire after one minute and are removed during periodic cleanup; active-request counters are removed when requests finish. Our application does not intentionally log submitted video links or maintain visitor browsing histories. Hosting systems may process technical and security information to operate the service.
Storage on your device
If you change the site language, we store that preference in your browser’s local storage under ctv-language. It remains until you change it or clear the site’s browser data. We do not currently set advertising cookies or load analytics tools.
The desktop Paste button requests clipboard text only when you press it. On mobile, pasting uses your device’s own controls. Your browser controls permission for clipboard access and file sharing.
Service providers
The website is hosted by DigitalOcean on a server in Singapore. Submitted Facebook links are requested from Meta’s services so we can resolve the video; our server makes those requests. Your email provider and our email provider also process messages if you contact us. Providers may process data in countries outside your own.

Advertising: planned, not active
We have applied to Google AdSense, but ads are not currently enabled. Before activation, we will update this notice and provide the applicable consent controls.
When enabled, Google and other advertising vendors may use cookies or similar technology to serve and measure ads, including personalised ads based on previous visits to this and other websites. This can involve device information, IP addresses and online activity. Where consent is required, you will be able to accept, decline or manage choices, and revisit those choices later.
Read how Google uses information from partner sites. You can also manage personalised Google advertising in My Ad Center. Those Google settings do not replace the consent controls on this site. Our API and MCP responses contain no display ads.
Your choices and enquiries
You can clear local browser data to remove your language preference, and delete downloaded files from your device. For privacy questions or requests concerning personal information, contact CopyTheVideo at support@copythevideo.com. Please describe the request without sending passwords or sensitive video content.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data, restrict or object to processing, obtain a portable copy, or complain to your local data-protection authority. We may need information to verify a request. We do not have an account history to search and may no longer hold temporary request data.
We process information needed to provide the service you request and protect it against abuse. Advertising processing that requires consent will rely on your choices when advertising is introduced. This notice will be updated when our practices change.
